aha moments: eating

You sound super motivated-good for you!!! Best of luck with the fitness challenge :)
ahh. I am so envious of you, for being able to commit to this fitness challenge. I am over weight myself. VERY over-weight! and I'm young, but I still stuggle w/ the whole process of losing weight or even trying to. You do sound so motivated! Keep up the great work!
Inspire me! haha.

My gosh I didn;t realise the food diary did all that. I'll have to get on it. You also said this:

Sidenote: If our bodies do not receive enough calories then our body "rations" the calories received to different parts of our body based on priority sequencing, just like the Starship Enterprise when it gets blasted too hard and eventually goes down to just enough power to maintain life support but no other functions. Without enough calories, our bodies cannot run at peak efficiency and that it why our body, in this state, will also start stockpiling up some things if it can - things it would normally burn or flush out. When there are not enough calories to go around, the last thing your body is doing is fat burning as its in survival mode. That is why starving yourself is not the way to lose weight. Not getting enough calories, including, yes, enough fat, over a long period of time will actually start causing damage to your vital organs. Just as taking in way too many calories and fat is bad for your health, so is not taking in enough. This is also another reason why the 6 mini-meals a day way of eating is so good for your body to work at peak efficiency. Anyhoo...I think I am digressing from what I started this post to be about...LOL....

I wonder if I've been doing that. I just haven't been able to pay attention to what I'm eating because I'm so focussed on work right now, I forget to eat.I need to reevaluate. Anyway, I'm glad you posted this, because it's helpful. You are amazing.BTW- how can we leave replies to comments on the VOX challenge group posting?

Yeah, I didn't know until I tried it a few years ago. I had been looking for something to help me track or count my calories consumed vs calories burned as I had no idea and wanted to get a feel for it. My original intention was to use it for a month to check it out and I ended up using it for about 6 months. It really helped me last time and its helping me a lot this time, too. I think for $9, it's a great deal as it saves me a lot of time and helps me out tremendously in my quest to get into shape. Its a great tool.

I think its more that you are probably not eating often enough if you are forgetting to eat. I have heard of some writers or artists who place a small cooler of food & drinks in their area of work (i.e. by their desk) so they don't have to try and break away to get and/or prepare any food while immersed in a project. I know myself, if I am working hard I can forget to eat. I will think about it from time to time but if I am in a mode or the middle of something, I will put off getting up to prepare something...and before know it, hours have passed.

how can we leave replies to comments on the VOX challenge group posting?

Are you talking about posts on the Group page? If so, its the same as usual. Are you having some challenges?

Good morning, my friend. You're the first one I talk to today. It's only 5:23 am here. I don't know why I got up so early. Like I told you, I think I'm hungry.I think I'm having a challenge on the group page, o rmaybe it's just me being lame. I'll look at it again and getback to you.

Well, I hope you have great day. Happy Valentine's Day by the way. Anything special planned?

[this is good]
Great post, Dee! I've recently stopped calorie counting as I'm one of those people who goes overboard and ends up inadvertently under-eating because I overestimate when I record my calories. I had a five week weight-loss plateau where my body went into starvation mode to deal with having to work on too few calories. However I'm still glad of doing calorie counting initially because it helps you distinguish 'good' foods from 'bad' and that knowledge stays with you. I used a website called calorieking.com.au (there's an American version but I think you have to pay to use it). I could just search for any food I was planning on eating and see exactly how many calories and how much fat it contained. It was a real eye-opener!

I am honoured that you talked to me first today! :) Although 5:30 am is a tad early..haha! If you were hungry, I hoped you got something to eat!

I know you love Vday so I hope you had wonderful Vday celebration with hubs. Slasher and I aren't really Vday people so we don't really celebrate it much. I did make him a really nice gourmet-ish dinner, though.........spinach and feta stuffed pork loin chops accompanied by mushroom-wine-risotto-style brown rice and a big salad. It was yummers!

What did you do for Vday?

And as far as your issue with replying to comments, I think I might know what your challenge is with replying to comments with posts on the Group page...because Slasher had a challenge tonight which sounds similiar to what you mentioned. If you post something to only the Group page and it doesn't show up publically on your blog page, you can only reply to comments when viewing the post on the Group page....not from your own blog page. If you view it on your own blog page it is viewable only by you therefore comments are not turned on on your blog page....thus no reply button appears. Go look at that same post on the Group page and you will see a reply button. Does this help?

The reply thing was exactly what you described and I just discovered that about two minutes before reading your comment here.

Your dinner sounds yummy. We had a similar evening. It bothers me that restaurants here raise the prices for Valentimes Day to a ridiculous level. I don't mind paying a bit more, but its the principle really that it shouldn't be three times more, for heaven's sake. Plus, getting reservations is hard,(probably why they raise prices) so you have to book weeks ahead. SO I always prefer to go out a few days earlier for a nice meal to celebrate and then I cook at home, too. So, last night, I made linguine and clam sauce, which is one of my husband's favourites.

I mostly enjoy the cards. My husband shows his love every day, but he is not one for flowery words. However, he seems to be able to really express his feelings in a card. Not by the sentiment on the card, but he by writing his own thoughts. Since I'm so demonstrative with my words I usually go with a funny card and a' love, Patricia,' but it always tickles me to see what he writes.
